The event is to be played from September 23 to 27 in Cuiaba, Mato Grosso, Brazil, and the top three sides will claim places at next year’s FIBA World Championship for Women in the Czech Republic.
The USA have already booked a spot by winning the gold medal at last year’s Olympics and the Czechs will be there as hosts.
Veteran guard Teresa Gabriele and former Sacramento Monarchs star Kim Smith are the headline names in a Canada squad that is comprised of players who compete in Europe or at the college level.

The youngest in the Canada squad is 6ft 2in forward Natalie Achonwa, a high school player who competed for Canada at the U19 FIBA World Championship for Women in Thailand earlier this summer.

Canada squad: Teresa Gabriele, Kim Smith, Natalie Achonwa, Jordan Adams, Kelsey Adrian, Chelsea Aubry, Janelle Bekkering, Kaela Chapdelaine, Leanne Evans, Megan Pinske, Kadie Riverin and Tamara Tathman.
