    CAN - Canada College Basketball final, 10 Tournament (day 1)

    TORONTO (CIS championship) - Final - 10 university men's basketball nationals hosted by Atlantic University Sport, are held in Nova Scotia's capital city for the 23rd consecutive year, including the past 19 at the Metro Centre

    TORONTO (CIS championship) -  Final - 10 university men's basketball nationals hosted by Atlantic University Sport, are held in Nova Scotia's capital city for the 23rd consecutive year, including the past 19 at the Metro Centre.

    Participating teams are;

    2. UBC Thunderbirds
    3. Carleton Ravens
    4. StFX X-Men
    5. McMaster Marauders
    6. UQAM Citadins
    7. Cape Breton Capers
    8. York Lions
    9. Saskatchewan Huskies
    10. Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks

    Let's look at the top 3 teams. We are going to start with the University of Victoria Vikes, Nations first seed team, just a couple of weeks ago they played against University of British Colombia for the Canada West conference and won the championship. They have played 28 games so far and they won 20games and lost 8 games. Last year they participated the Final - 10 tournament but they eliminated at the semi-finals and got the 5th place in the tournament. University of Victoria has won 8 Final - 10 tournaments in their history.

    The second top team University of British Colombia, they were the favorite team before the start of the regular season, and each month they proved themselves as a team and they gained a winner attitude till the Victoria game. It was a tough game for them but enjoyable for the fans. Probably British Colombia will face against Victoria very soon in the tournament. They have played 27 games so far and won 25 games. For all participating coaches in the tournament they are the best team in the nations.

    Third seed, Carleton University. This team is the toughest team in the nation to beat. This year they have struggled for the injuries, but right now they are ready for a new title. They are the team which won this title 3 years in a row. Their head coach Dave Smart is the Canada Senior Men's National team Asst.Coach. They have played 24 games so far and won 21 games lost 3 games.

    DAY - 1
    Yesterday was the first day for the Final -10 tournament and tipped - off only 2 games. First games in the tournament was between  7th seed Cape Breton University and 10th seed Wilfrid Laurier. Cape Breton won the battle against Wilfrid Laurier, 62 - 53 and advance to the 2nd round action against the 2nd seed  team UBC Thunderbirds.

    Eric Breland (Cape Breton) was named the player of the game. He played good both end of the court and he scored 12 points and got 4 rebounds. Jarrett Timmons also was another good player for the Cape Breton who showed his defensive skills on the court. He got 11 points and got 5 rebounds.
     
    The second action for the Final - 10 tournaments was against York University Lions and Saskatchewan Huskies. Both two teams played very well in the action but yesterday only one team could survive at the end of the game. It was the Saskatchewan Huskies advance to the 2nd round action. Huskies beat Lions 75 - 74 yesterday's action game.

    York Lions in the first half, played well in the offense and outscored the Huskies 36 - 29 after 2o minutes. But at the second half Huskies came out from 7 points behind and won the battle.

    Kyle Grant was named the player of the game. He played more than 30 minutes and scored 20 points and contributed 3 assists. The other important player was Matthew Greenberg for the Huskies. He guarded the best guard in the nation (Tut Roach) and also scored 15 points in the game.

    With this victory, Huskies will face against nations 1st seed team University of Victoria.
