    SOFIA/GENEVA (FIBA) - The international basketball world and the basketball community of Bulgaria mourns the death of Mr. Bozhidar Takev who has passed away at the age of 89.

    Mr. Takev was a well respected member of the international basketball community, was a former player, coach and referee and served in various functions within FIBA and the Bulgarian Basketball Federation.

    “Basketball has lost a great friend, collaborator and official, both in international basketball as well as for basketball in his country,” stated FIBA Secretary General and IOC member Patrick Baumann after he was informed about the death of Mr. Takev. “He was an honourable man and his legacy will definitely remain with us.”

    FIBA conveys to his family and to the colleagues form the Bulgarian Basketball Federation its most sincere condolences and respect.
