PUEBLA (2015 FIBA Americas U16 Women's Championship) - Brazil and Canada will face off in Sunday's Final at the 2015 FIBA Americas U16 Women's Championship after they defeated reigning champions United States and hosts Mexico in their respective Semi-Finals on Saturday.
In a historic upset, Brazil handed the USA their first loss in the U16 age category, beating them 72-63.
The South American team used some hot shooting to jump to a 21-14 lead to end the first quarter, stretched that advantage to as many as 20 in the second period and took a 45-27 advantage into halftime.
Dori Oldaker's team fought back in the fourth quarter, cutting the deficit down to six late on but Izabela Leite responded with a couple of timely baskets to stretch Brazil's advantage back up to nine and ensure the win.
Leite led all scorers with 24 points.
In the other Semi-Final, Canada defeated the hosts 70-42. Carly Clark's team had control of the game from start to finish. Alyssa Jerome had 16 points and 16 rebounds in the winning effort.
Brazil and Canada will square off in Sunday's Final, with both teams looking to claim their first-ever U16 Americas crown. The USA and Mexico will battle it out in the Third-Place Game.
