BRA - Valtinho given all-clear

RIO DE JANEIRO (FIBA Americas Championship) - Brazilian Basketball Confederation president Gerasime Bozikis has confirmed experienced centre Valtinho will be fit for both the forthcoming Pan-American Games and the FIBA Americas Championships.

The Uberlandia ace, 30, had been a doubt with injury, but having convinced coach Aluisio Ferreira of his fitness he has been added to the squad.

"We are very happy at this news because Valtinho is one of the best players in Brazilian basketball," Bozikis said.

Ferreira added: "Valtinho is a very important player for this group, because of his experience and high-quality."
