    BRA/URU - Brazil stays perfect after dominating Uruguay

    SAN JUAN (2009 FIBA Americas Championship) - Brazil is still perfect in the FIBA Americas Championship after defeating Uruguay 82-62 at Coliseo Roberto Clemente.     SAN JUAN (2009 FIBA Americas Championship) - Brazil is still perfect in the FIBA Americas Championship after defeating Uruguay 82-62 at Coliseo Roberto Clemente. The Brazilians play Puerto Rico tomorrow in a possible showdown of undefeated teams.

    Marcelinho Machado led Brazil with 23 points, Anderson Varejao 14 and JP Batista 11. Varejao had 10 rebounds and Batista 8.

    Machado came out hot, making his first five shots from three point range as he netted 17 in the first half to give Brazil a 44-35 lead. Marcelo Huertas helped Machado with 8 points and Jonathan Tavernari 7.

    Mauricio Aguiar and Martin Osimani kept scoring for Uruguay but Esteban Batista was stopped by the Brazilians defense as he only scored 6 points in 29 minutes.

    In the final quarter Marcelinho kept scoring and another three pointer with 2:31 gave them a 71-58 lead.

    Aguiar led Uruguay with 18 points, Osimani 14 and Gustavo Barrera 11 with 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Uruguay finishes the quarterfinals against Argentina.

    At the end of the Quarterfinals Uruguay could force a three way tie if they win and also Canada gets a victory. If Uruguay loses and Canada wins against the Dominican Republic the North American country will qualify for the 2010 FIBA World Championship.
