RIO DE JANEIRO (FIBA Basketball World Cup) - Brazil will play several international heavyweights on three different continents in their preparations for the FIBA Basketball World Cup.
The country's basketball confederation has announced that among the opponents in the build-up to Spain 2014 for Ruben Magnano's squad will be African champions Angola, South American rivals Argentina, defending World and Olympic champions USA, FIBA Americas Championship winners Mexico and FIBA Asia Champions Iran and European juggernauts Lithuania and Slovenia.
Coach Magnano will announce a preliminary squad in the second half of May and then reveal his final roster for Spain 2014 on 20 July.
The Brazilians will compete in Group A in Granada at the World Cup against Spain, Serbia, France, Iran and Egypt.
"In agreement with the planning of the technical commission, we will play excellent game of a high technical level before the World Cup," said Vanderlei Mazzuchini, the technical director of the Brazilian Basketball Confederation.
"We will have 40 days to prepare between training and games."
