SAO PAULO (FIBA Americas Championship) - Caio Torres will not be part of Brazil squad who are training ahead of the FIBA Americas Championship.

Coach Aluisio Ferreira has withdrawn the centre from the Selecao after a request from Estudiantes, his Spanish club.

Nene, who plays in the NBA for Denver Nuggets and is back in the Selecao after a four-year absence, was expected to join the team on Friday night.

However, the centre had to return to the United States to resolve some personal problems before training with the national team.

Expectation is running high over forward/centre Joao Paulo Batista after his performances during Brazil's gold medal-winning Pan American Games performance in Rio de Janeiro.

The 25-year-old is set to start in the FIBA Americas Championship if Anderson Varejao and Rafael Araujo are ruled out. However, he is happy to play his part, whether in the starting five or from the bench.

"We'll see who finally comes to train with the team and then we'll think about the rest of the things," said Batista.

"I came here to make my contribution, to help the team and be an important element in the squad."
