RIO DE JANEIRO (FIBA U19 World Championship) - Brazil coach Jose Alves Neto has named a 23-man squad for the last series of training sessions ahead of the FIBA U19 World Championship in Serbia

RIO DE JANEIRO (FIBA U19 World Championship) - Brazil coach Jose Alves Neto has named a 23-man squad for the last series of training sessions ahead of the FIBA U19 World Championship in Serbia.

Paulo Sergio Prestes of LEB 2 side Clinicas Rincon Axarquia in Spain, who averaged better than 20 points and 13 rebounds in Brazil’s four games last summer as they finished third at the FIBA Americas U18 Championship, is among those selected.

The final squad has to be together on June 3 at the Rio Claro Plaza Hotel where they will continue to train at Felipe Karan gymnasium up until June 29.

“The aim for this last training stage is to improve the tactical elements of the team and to see how useful each player can be in order to decide on the 12 men who will be at the World Championship,” said Neto.

“These players know each other very well because they have been training together since last year’s FIBA Americas U18 Championship. The only one who is making his debut is Carlos Cobos, who plays in Spain.”

The World Championship takes place from July 12-22 in Novi Sad, where Brazil will compete in Group A alongside Lebanon, France and Lithuania.
