CALDAS DA RAINHA (Referee clinic) - Geraldo Fontana, FIBA Commissionaire and Referring Coordinator of Brazilian Basketball Federation, was the main speaker of the 16th International Clinic of National Basketball Referees Association of Portugal (ANBJ). The event, held on December 7th and 8th in Caldas da Rainha joined 86 referees, came from eleven Portuguese cities.
First Brazilian ever to be invited to do lectures in the Clinic, Fontana mentioned how successful it was.
- It was an excellent clinic. The subjects were very updated and interesting. They have been chosen by the organization under the supervision of Mr. Anibal Garcia, FIBA Americas' Technical Director. The videos were one of the reasons for such success. We could work on images from Olympic Games, Olympic Qualifying, Brazilian Championship an Americas League. With those videos it was possible to analyze deeply several game situations in order to exchange knowledge and correct mistakes and misunderstandings about FIBA rules. For this we counted on the support and orientation of Mr. Miguel Bittencourt, Referring Director of FIBA Europe - said Fontana, who gave four lectures in the event.
Rui Valente, President of Referring Board of Portuguese Federation was very pleased with Fontana's participation.
- It was a great experience to share ideas with such extraordinary person as Geraldo Fontana. He is natural speaker and has high and modern technical knowledge - said Mr. Valente.
