SAO PAULO (FIBA World Championship for Women) - Brazil coach Antonio Carlos Barbosa will wait until the last minute before announcing the squad for the FIBA World Championship for Women, following an injury to star center Erika.
Erika, who plays for Valencia, has a twisted left ankle and although an MRI scan confirmed the problem is not too serious, Barbosa will give the 24-year-old as long as possible to prove her fitness before the final squad announcement.
A key component of her country's team, Erika will definitely miss the forthcoming Electrobras International quadrangular tournament, which sees Brazil take on Canada, Spain and China.
Brazil are in Group A at the World Championship, alongside Argentina, Spain and South Korea.
