Franciele Do Nascimiento led the Brazilians with 23 points and 10 rebounds while veteran guard Helen Luz had 20 points. Adrianinha Pinto dished 8 assists and added 10 points for the winners.
Brazil kept a consistent attack on all quarters, scoring mostly on the paint where they finished with 72 points. They also scored 18 points off turnovers and 40 on fastbreak opportunities.
The first quarter ended 36-22 in favor of the hosts as Jucimara Dantas netted 9 points and Helen Luz 7. The Dominicans had Adalgisa Brito with 11 points.
At halftime the lead was 66-41 as Franciele led with 14 points, all of them in the paint. Brazil shot 26-40 from the field for 65% and Helen Luz led the attack from the perimeter with 12 points.
In the second half the lead was too much as Brazil dominated on all aspects and kept their defensive intensity for 40 minutes to never look back.
Sugeiry Monsac had 17 points, Adalgisa Briyo 14 and Jennifer Estrella 13 for the Dominicans who are 0-2.
