    BRA - Brazilian national league review

    BRAZIL (Liga Nacional de Basquete) – Brazilian international Marcelinho Machado broke the national league record for most points in a game with 45 in leading Flamengo Rio de Janeiro to a 104-74 win over Assis Basket in the Brazilian capital on Sunday. The previous record was held by Dede of Paulistano who exploded for 42 points in a game. Marcelinho now has 3,527 points with Flamengo who improved to 7-3 and moved into third place in the standings.

    Marcelinho sets new national league record

    BRAZIL (Liga Nacional de Basquete) – Brazilian international Marcelinho Machado broke the national league record for most points in a game with 45 in leading Flamengo Rio de Janeiro to a 104-74 win over Assis Basket in the Brazilian capital on Sunday.

    The previous record was held by Dede of Paulistano who exploded for 42 points in a game. Marcelinho now has 3,527 points with Flamengo who improved to 7-3 and moved into third place in the standings.

    The hosts jumped out to a 31-15 by the end of the first quarter and were up 59-43 at halftime. They made some defensive adjustments after the break and Marcelinho kept providing a steady offensive spark as they cruised to an easy win.

    Meanwhile, Minas Tenis Clubé recovered from an early deficit to defeat Joinville 84-67. After a slow start that saw them trailing 25-16 at the end of the opening period, the visitors outscored their opponents 50-30 in the second half to clinch the road win. Luiz Felipe and Facundo Sucatzky had 18 points each as Minas saw six players score in double-digits.

    Elsewhere, Pinheiros held off Franca 98-95 behind Shamell Stallworth’s 36 points.
