BRA – Brazil squads named for busy summer
RIO DE JANEIRO (2010 FIBA World Championship) – Brazil have named two senior team squads for this summer's major basketball events. Coach Ruben Magnano has a 24-man pool for his first group that will convene on June 1 to begin preparing for the South American Championship. Some of those players will then be included in a second squad of more established players to form the side that will compete at the FIBA World Championship in Turkey. In the second group, which will gather on July 19, are Anderson Varejão, Tiago Splitter, Nenê, Guilherme Giovannoni, Alex Garcia, Leandro Barbosa, Marcelo Huertas, Valter Apolinário and Marcelo Machado. "We have mixed youth with experience in this selection but it's not a closed list," Magnano said. "Another player could be called up depending on our needs.
