    BARUERI (2009 FIBA Americas Championship for Women) - Brazil won their first friendly game against Argentina by the score of 65-50 at Jose Correa Gym in front of 3,200 fans. Their second game is on Monday, September 14 in Barueri.

    Kelly Santos led Brazil with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Karina and Micaela netted 9 each while Alessandra, Palmira and Silvia scored 7 each.

    Argentina was led by Sandra Pavon, Carolina Sánchez and Mariana Cava who netted 7 points each.

    The Brazilians won the first quarter 16-4 and the first half was 33-19. In the third quarter Argentina made just 9 points as Brazil cruised to a comfortable win.

    "It was a good game. The team is growing as planned and we will arrive for the FIBA Americas Championship for Women well prepared. In the second game we will have a better game, especially in attack," said center Kelly Santos.

    Both teams are preparing for the 2009 FIBA Americas Championship for Women to be played in Cuiaba, Mato Grosso, Brazil from September 23-27. After this series against Argentina, Brazil will face Canada on September 17 and 19.
