RIO DE JANEIRO (Basketball festival) - In the packaging of Hip-Hop DJ Roberto Campos and animation by the MC Anderson Nunes, was held last Sunday (October 12th) the Eletrobras Basketball for Future Festival, in Mangueira's Olympic Village in Rio de Janeiro. The event brought together 198 youth from 12 to 17 years old, from three units of Centers of Integrated Basketball (CBI). The Festival took part of the celebration for Brazilian Children's Day.
Gerasime Bozikis, president of Brazilian Basketball Federation (CBB), emphasizes the importance of the Festival and the social project developed by CBB.
" I am very happy with such great event, which was a partnership between CBB and Rio de Janeiro1s Federation. Today we meet boys and girls that in a near future are likely to be athletes and defend the Brazilian team. This project of CBB, sponsored by Eletrobras, is expanding its structure every year. In Rio and also in other states, the social projects show the importance of educating and socializing young people through sport " said Bozikis, who was present to the event with vice-president Robert Beck, the president of the Basketball Federation of Rio de Janeiro, Alvaro Almeida, and the president of the Federation of Rio Grande do Sul, Carlos Nunes.
With only 1.31m high and 11 years old, the guard Isabelle Azevedo has shown a lot of talent. The little athlete was not intimidated by taller girls.
"It was very nice to be part of this great event. It gave me the chance to meet players from different places. I started playing basketball two years ago, with my coach Paulo Azevedo. My goal in life is becoming a professional player, like Adrianinha (guard of Brazilian Senior Team)" said Isabelle.
The social projects department of CBB is already planning the next Festival, which should be held in December.
