MINSK (EuroBasket Women) - Belarus coach Anatoli Buyalski believes his team has every chance of earning a place at the 2010 FIBA World Championship for Women when they run onto the court in Latvia on Sunday’s opening day of the EuroBasket to face Israel.

Buyalski’s team made a stunning run to the bronze medal at the EuroBasket Women two years ago and then claimed a spot at the Beijing Games via the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

Once in China, Belarus progressed to the Quarter-Finals before being knocked out by the host nation.

Buyalski, who announced his squad in Minsk this week, said reaching the Czech Republic is “realistic, but it’s necessary to understand that after the team’s recent success our opponents will do their best to prepare themselves for the games against Belarus. No one will underestimate us now.”

Belarus will face Italy, France and Israel in Group D at the EuroBasket Women.
