    SPAIN
    WOMEN’S OLYMPIC BASKETBALL, 2008

    Team Characteristics
High energy team with contributions from entire team. Good balance of offensive and defensive
execution. Offensively, pressure is applied to defense by cutting, screening and isolations. Team
concept is strong as is selfless play. Stay within their own game and play the percentages in terms of
    shot selection and distribution.

    Offensive Tendencies
Offense characterized by constant screening, cutting and ball movement. Lots of baseline
single/single screening action to free shooters. One player may receive three or four screens on a
single possession. Spread the floor for one on one situations from top of key. Penetration leads to
lay up or passes to perimeter players spotting up. Like to run secondary offense if break does not
materialize. Ball reversal and back screens are designed to get the ball directly into the post or
    through high/low action.

    Transition
Transition accounts for a sizable portion of offensive production. All players are capable or running
and scoring in transtion including posts. Penetration and pitch, driving to paint, or quick on ball
screens all occur in tranzition game. Long outlets quicken the break and put immediately pressure on
    the retreating defenders.

    Set Plays
    1. Wing entry, ball reversal, shuffle cut, double down, baseline runner.
    2. Wing entry, cross screen, triple screen
    3. Double on ball screen, step back, post isolation
    Out of Bounds
Three option play from a triple stack on the ball side. Back side and ball side cutters, with post
slipping after screening. From the box set, a back screen/screen the screen action is the focus.

    Zone Offense
Continuity zone offense is run from a 4 out/1 in set. Ball reversal initiates cutters on baseline and
post flashes to the ball. If inside post steps to perimeter from the high post, baseline post flashes to
iddle and takes the inside position. Players cutting in and out of the heart of the zone helps distort
the zone and open shooters on the perimeter.

    Team Defense
Basic man to man defensive approach. Play good position, block out well, and work hard to keep the
ball out of the paint. Good team help on penetration. Aware of shooters and capable post players.
