Team Characteristics
Effictive team on both ends. Utilize the team concept on offense to produce good shots and good
shot distribution. Balance betweeen inside and outside is a feature. Their game is solid and keeps
them in the game. Defensive consistency, execution and rebounding are strengths.
Offensive Tendencies
Combination of quick hitters and motion offense creates scoring on consistent basis. Quick hitters
are intended to get the ball to isolated post player on block. On ball screneing is a main focus of half
court possessions. On ball screens are set on top and on wings to open driving lanes for the driver
and roller. Good ball skills and shooting ability puts pressure on defense, especially on penetration.
Main set is 4 out/1 in with good ball movement and screening.
Transition
Turnovers and long rebounds begin immediate fast break opportunities. If ball is not thrown ahead to
he wing, the point will take ball all the way to basket. Another weapon is ball reversal to trailing post
or three point shot. Wings are adept at spacing out to shoot open threes.
Set Plays
- Double
high set, pass and follow for hand off, double down screen on weak
side.
- Dribble
out to wing, small/big back screen to post iso.
- Wing
pass, on ball screen, roller to post isolation in mid post.
Three features of this OB play include: back cut, screen for shooter, and slip to the basket. Once ball
is in bounds, baseline screens help perimeter cutter get open in lane or corner for open shot.
Zone Offense
3 out/2 in set with high and low post. High post players can make perimeter shot, opening up the
iddle for low post. Cutters through the lane are open on ball reversal and fill areas that are uncovered
by the zone. Good inside out action provides for many open jump shot or penetration to the paint.
Team Defense
Turnovers result from good half court ball pressure and weak side help. Solid half court execution
orce challenged shots by the offense. Defensive rebounding is accomplished by all five players
getting go the boards.
