BUENOS AIRES (Argentina) - The expectations were high for the two BCL Americas title candidates, but San Lorenzo made sure that they maintained a strong lead. Although Franca inched closer towards the end, they were never able to make a comeback, and San Lorenzo won 73-68.
This victory put the Cyclones (2-0) in first place of Group C in this first round, followed by Franca (1-1) and Obras Sanitarias (0-2).
San Lorenzo was in total control, thanks to the offensive strength provided Nicolás "Penka" Aguirre, who contributed 10 points and eight assists, and José Vildoza who added 20 points.
With 4:00 minutes remaining as San Lorenzo took their foot off the gas Franca closed the gap within 10 (68-58). Canastos de Vildoza and Kevin Hernández took control and had a good defensive stop that ended with Hernández blocking André Goes.
"We have been improving as we have been adding games because we have not been able to train much due to the health situation. We have not been able to have the complete team (again Nicolás Romano was out), but it was important to start by winning these two games," Aguirre said after the victory.

"Today we played better than the first day. We dominated them for more than 30 minutes, in the end we relaxed and they came back, but the important thing was to add and we did it," added the point guard.
Other stand-outs in San Lorenzo were Máximo Fjellerup and Hernández, with 10 points each. For Franca, Lucas Dias closed with 19 and seven rebounds and Rodney Green added 14 points.
