José Vildoza, the second window's best point guard
BUENOS AIRES (Argentina) - Pepe pulls the strings of the undefeated San Lorenzo, leader of Group C and already qualified for the next phase. He's its present, but he also has a lot of future.
BUENOS AIRES (Argentina) – The tranquility and temperance one sees in his game has nothing to do with age, but rather with experience and a cool head for handling the times inside the court. José Vildoza transformed into one of the best point guards of the continent, and he was chosen as window 2's best point guard and part of the Star Lineup of this BCL Americas' second edition.
"I'm happy for the team, for having fulfilled the objective of winning both matches and maintaining first place in the Group. Personally, I feel good, confident. It might be the best moment of my career, but I don't like to think about that. I always give it my best, and aim to improve," said Vildoza who, at 25 years old, pulls the strings at San Lorenzo, which is once again a protagonist of the biggest continental tournament.

The team lead by Silvio Santander won all four matches it played in the BCL Americas' current edition and has a perfect score in Group C. Vildoza talked about the third window and about what's coming: "Now we have to focus on us, on the National League (they're in second place with a 25-9 record), and in winning the remaining matches to finish in the highest possible position. We have time to keep improving and reaching the first qualifying match of the BCL Americas in the best way. I like the new format because we all have the possibility of playing in our city and stadium. Due to the sanitary measures, there are no spectators, but it's nice that everyone has the possibility of seeing their team in an international competition. I think San Lorenzo still has things to improve, Máximo (Fjellerup) still has to recover from his injury so that we can have the whole team. I think we still haven't reached our ceiling as a team, and we can keep improving."
Vildoza took his first steps in his native province of Córdoba, more precisely at the Maipú club, and he then reached Libertad de Sunchales, where he showed his game vision. That's where San Lorenzo laid eyes on him, after a brief stint in Trotamundos from Venezuela, and he started earning his place at the "Ciclón". He arrived and won the Americas League, the National League, and he still leaves his mark next to another great point guard such as Nicolás Aguirre: "I love playing with 'Penka', I feel we understand each other and complement each other well. It's another variation for the team. We'll always give our best to reach the objective, we go all out."

Vildoza transformed into a fundamental piece in the Argentine National Team, on its way to the AmeriCup, and it already qualified. Pepe spoke of how proud he is to wear his country's colors: "We fulfilled a major objective with the National Team, which was qualifying for the AmeriCup, we achieved that and we played very well at some moments. So I'm also happy because of that. It's the combination of reaching the objective and also wearing your country's jersey."
The point guard from Córdoba killed it in the second window, which got him into the Star Lineup, with two amazing performances: 14 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists against Obras; and 21 points and 7 assists against Franca. Furthermore, in the duration of the tournament, he's the team's leader with an average of 19.3 points and 6.3 assists. He's having an incredible season and it seems as if he hasn't reached his limit.
