FIBA Commentator Josh Bett took the wheel with his predictions for Gameday 4.

    Safe Pick🔒

My safe pick this week is La Laguna Tenerife claiming the win over Tofas Bursa in Turkiye.

Tenerife lead the league offensively with 96 points per game across the first two games, and they've done that, averaging less than 12 turnovers per game at 11.5.

Tofas are actually the only team shooting a better percentage from the field at 55 percent, with Txus Vidorreta's team shooting 54 percent.

However, Tenerife wrestle that advantage from behind the arc, where they lead the league at 47.4 percent, with Tofas in third place shooting 45.5 percent.

From the free-throw line, Tenerife also have a clear advantage having made 89 percent of their 53 shots from the stripe.

The head-to-head between the two teams gives Tenerife the edge for me as well. The two clubs have faced off five times in the Basketball Champions League since 2022, all in Quarter-Final playoff series.

La Laguna Tenerife holds a dominant 4-1 series lead over Tofas Bursa so far. This is their first meeting in the Regular Season, but I see Tenerife continuing that dominance in this one.

    Wildcard 🃏

For the wildcard, I'm going for VEF Riga. This one is based on a hunch more than any stats or previous records.

Riga have been in the BCL a long time, and this is a game they know that they simply must win. The Latvians sit at 0-2 at the bottom of Group F, so probably very few expect them to go on the road to NHSZ-Szolnoki Olajbanyasz and pick up a win, but I just feel all those years of experience in the BCL will come into play here.

There will be pride on the line to avoid a 0-3 start, and the likes of Zahir Porter and Rostyslav Novitskyi will be looking to build on strong starts to the season.

NHSZ-Szolnoki had a dominant win over Patrioti Levice in their opening home game of the season, so they will be no pushovers, but I'm sticking to my guns and saying VEF Riga will cause an upset in this one.
