Booker clutch as Murcia lock up Play-Offs spot - Gameday 10, Wednesday Round Up

MIES (Switzerland) - Gameday 10 came to a close on Wednesday evening, with four teams in total now already qualified for the Play-Offs.

AEK, Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem, Iberostar Tenerife and UCAM Murcia all booked their tickets to the Play-Offs, with Askia Booker stealing the show in double-overtime for Murcia.

Here's a round up of all the action:

Banvit vs Ventspils

 
Banvit led by as many as twenty as they got a comfortable 78-63 win over Ventspils to improve to 6-4.

The Turkish side dominated the third quarter to take control,  led by the vision of of Tolga Gecim who registered 4 of his 10 assists in the period.

Alex Perez and Jordan Morgan had 14 each, McKenzie Moore had 13, and Gary Neal added 10.

Ousmane Drame and Rihards Lomazs led Ventspils with 15 each, the former adding 10 rebounds for a double-double, but they fell to 3-7 with the defeat.

Notable Number:  5 - the number of minutes Ventspils went scoreless in the third quarter to allow Banvit to pull away.

Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem vs Telenet Giants Antwerp

 
Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem secured their Play-Off berth with a 92-72 victory over Telenet Giants Antwerp.

Hapoel improved to 8-2 in Group C, joining AEK in the Round of 16, using 20 first half points from James Feldeine to take a 12 point lead into the break before extending the deficit to as many as 28 in the second half.

Amar'e Stoudemire had 18 points and 6 rebounds, Tamir Blatt had 14 points and 8 assists, and Josh Owens collected an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double.

Antwerp, now 5-5, but two games clear in fourth place, were led by 12 points apiece from Jae'Sean Tate and Ismael Bako.

Notable Number: 38 - the number of offensive rebounds Hapoel (18) and Antwerp (20) combined for.

Neptunas Klaipeda vs Filou Oostende

 
Filou Oostende won their fourth straight, another nail biter, with a 79-77 win over Neptunas Klaipeda thanks to some late free throws from Chase Fieler.

Following Elias Lasisi knocking down a go-ahead mid-range jumper, Lorenzo Williams responded at the other end with a lay up before Weaver inexplicably fouled Fieler on a three point attempt with 2.9 seconds remaining, allowing him to seal the game-winning free throws. Oostende improved to 5-5 with the win.

TJ Williams and Lasisi led the way for Oostende with 14 points each, with Fieler adding 13 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists.

Jerai Grant top scored for Neptunas with 15, whilst Osvaldas Olisevicius and Kyle Weaver had 12 each, but they fell to 4-6. 

Notable Number: 55.6 - Neptunas went just 10-for-18 at the free throw line for 55.6% accuracy, a number that will no doubt haunt them.

Promitheas Patras vs medi Bayreuth

 
Promitheas Patras protected their home court with a 95-83 win over medi Bayreuth, behind a blistering performance from Rion Brown.

Brown had a season-high 31, the second game he has had over 30 this season, going 14-of-19 from the floor to help Promitheas to 7-3 in Group D.

Octavius Ellis missed just one shot on his way to 18 points, with Nikos Gkikas having 10 points and 11 assists for a double-double.

Nineteen from De'Mon Brooks would not be enough for Bayreuth, with Bastian Doreth and Andreas Seiferth adding 14 each.

Bayreuth fall to 4-6, a game behind Oostende and Besiktas in the fight for fourth spot in the group.

Notable Number: 73.6 - the percentage Rion Brown shot from the field, as he put in one of the strongest individual scoring performances of the season.

MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg vs Le Mans

 
Le Mans executed when it mattered to pull out a 73-68 win over MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg.

Coming from eleven points down, Antoine Eito knocked down a pull up three with 30 seconds to go to help Le Mans take the lead, before they were helped by Ludwigsburg's Jordon Crawford missing an open lay up at the other end.

Cameron Clark had a game-high 21 points for Le Mans, Michael Thompson had 13 and 5 assists, whilst Richard Hendrix joined them in double figures with 11, as the French side improved to 4-6.

Lamont Da'Sean Jones had 19 to lead Ludwigsburg, and Kelan Martin 12, but Ludwigsburg fall to 2-8.

Notable Number: 10 - the number of steals Le Mans finished with, as they were active defensively.

UCAM Murcia vs Nizhny Novgorod

 
UCAM Murcia needed double overtime to escape Nizhny Novgorod, securing a 94-90 victory to lock up their Play-Offs spot.

Milton Doyle knocked down a triple with two seconds remaining in regulation to force the first extra period, and Askia Booker came up huge in the second overtime to help Murcia prevail, as they overcame a heroic effort from Ivan Strebkov.

Booker knocked down two triples and two free throws for 8 points in the second extra period, whilst Strebkov went blow for blow with two triples and a basket for 8 points of his own.

Booker's 22 points and 5 assists led six players into double figures for Murcia, Ovie Soko had 15 points and 9 rebounds, whilst Doyle finished with 10 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists.

Kendrick Perry's 33 points would not be enough for Nizhny, supplemented by 20 from Strebkov and 18 from Christopher Czerapowicz.

Notable Number: 48 - the number of times Murcia went to the free throw line, converting 35 of them.

Nanterre 92 vs Telekom Baskets Bonn

 
Nanterre 92 made light work of Telekom Baskets Bonn, tying the Basketball Champions League points differential record, with a 103-56 rout.

Nanterre led from start to finish, holding a double digit lead before the end of the first as they cruised the rest of the way. The 47-point victory is the same points difference that Iberostar Tenerife had against Capo d'Orlando in January of 2018.

Lahaou Konate had 15 points and Dominic Waters finished with 13 points and 13 assists to lead six guys in double figures for the French side. 

James Webb III and Martin Breunig had 11 each on a rough night for Bonn.

Notable Number: 19 - the number of three pointers Nanterre knocked down, as they shot 51.4% from the arc.

Segafredo Virtus Bologna vs Petrol Olimpija

 
Segafredo Virtus Bologna escaped an upset with an 87-84 win over Petrol Olimpija.

Bologna improved to 8-2 atop of Group D, avoiding defeat to 1-9 Olimpija who are at the opposite end of the table.

Amath M'Baye came away with a huge steal on Luka Samanic's potential game-tying drive in the dying seconds to seal the win, as Bologna held recovered from an awful start, having trailed by as many as 14.

Pietro Aradori had 17 points and 5 assists to lead Bologna, Dejan Kravic had 14 points and 9 rebounds, with Tony Taylor adding 13. Kevin Punter's streak of double digit games ended, as he finished with less than 10 points for just the second time in his Basketball Champions League career.

Mirza Begic had a 19-point, 12-rebound double-double for Olimpija, with Jan Span adding 14 and 6 assists.

Notable Number: 7:28 - the total amount of time in that game that Bologna led, as they were battling from behind.
