UCAM Murcia win on the road at Enisey Krasnoyarsk

    Game Report

KRASNOYARSK (Basketball Champions League) - Vitor Benite's 8 unanswered points late in third quarter on Tuesday sparked UCAM Murcia and helped them claim a 68-62 win at Enisey Krasnoyarsk.

KRASNOYARSK (Basketball Champions League) - Vitor Benite poured in 8 unanswered points late in the third quarter to turn a 50-47 deficit into an eight-point lead for UCAM Murcia and the Spanish outfit led the rest of the way at Enisey Krasnoyarsk on Wednesday.

Benite, who finished with 11 points, and Murcia ended up winning 68-62 to improve to 2-0 in Group A while Russians Enisey slipped to 1-1.

The hosts went in front by as many as eight points in the second quarter but failed to pull away with Alex Urtusan scoring the majority of his game-high 18 points in the first half.

The visitors trailed 39-34 at half-time but outscored Enisey in the third quarter, 21-11, to move in front for good.

A drive and score from Anthony Hilliard cut the Murcia advantage to 57-55 with 6:30 remaining in the contest and he then made what appeared to be a perfect bounce pass on a fast break to Suleiman Braimoh only for the power forward not to catch the ball and for it to turn over to the Liga Endesa side.

Both teams struggled to put the ball in the basket the rest of the way, although Enisey fouls led to opportunities that Murcia capitalized on. Ibon Navarro's side made 7 free-throws in the last minute and finished 15 of 18 (83.33%) for the game. Missed opportunities at the charity stripe were costly for Enisey, who were just 5 of 13 (38.46%).

Octavius Ellis had 11 points and 11 rebounds in defeat for Enisey, who had won their opener last week at EWE Baskets Oldenburg, 89-86. In that game, the Russian team was a perfect 10 of 10 at the free-throw line.
