The Ukrainian Club Azovmash Mariupol BC filed a claim against the Italian Coach Luca Bechi for damages. Submitting that the Coach breached the contract by not fulfilling his obligations thereunder, the Club requested compensation for costs incurred as a result of promoting an assistant coach to head coach and by contracting a new assistant coach. In his Answer and Counterclaim, the Coach argued that the Club had already terminated the Contract and even signed another head coach before the Respondent allegedly failed to fulfil his obligations. The Coach requested damages in the amount of the salaries owed under the remainder of the Contract, and the counter-value of various amenities to which the Coach was entitled under the Contract. The Arbitrator dismissed the claim in its entirety and partially upheld the counterclaim.
