    Follow-up: 21 January 2008
BAT dismissed the claim and counterclaim.

    Summary of the case
The American basketball player Khalid El-Amin and the sports agencies Beobasket and Excel Sports Management filed a claim against the Ukrainian club Azovmash BC, submitting that the club is obliged to honour a contract for the 2007-08 season.

The club filed a counterclaim seeking damages for alleged interference with the transfer of another player. The Arbitrator found that under the circumstances the club’s retraction from the contract was valid and that no indemnification should be awarded to the player.

Also, that the counterclaim did not arise within the scope of the arbitration agreement contained in the contract. Therefore, the Arbitrator dismissed the claim and declined jurisdiction over the counterclaim.
