LAUSANNE (Switzerland) – Day 1 of the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Lausanne 2026 delivered plenty of excitement as the pool phase concluded and the Quarter-Finals matchups were locked in at Place de la Navigation.
World Tour Amsterdam winners Baskets Bonn (GER) impressed on Day 1, going unbeaten with two wins in Pool D against Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy (MGL) 21-19 and Utrecht (NED) 20-17. Fabian Giessmann was the star of the show, scoring 11 points against Ulaanbaatar before hitting the game's final 3 points to seal a dramatic victory. He then followed that up with 12 points against Utrecht to help Baskets Bonn sweep the pool.
Utrecht had earlier battled through the Qualifying Draw, defeating Novi Zagreb Ph.Classic (CRO) 12-5 before beating Phoenix (USA) 21-15 behind 10 points from Joost Poels to secure their place in the Main Draw.
Liman stunned as Cibona sweep Pool A
There were plenty of surprises in Pool A, with top seed Liman (SRB) eliminated after defeats against Valencia Basket (ESP) 20-19 and Cibona Ph.Classic (CRO) 16-21.
Veteran Carlos Martinez led Valencia's upset with eight points and the game-winning basket against Liman, while Cibona followed up their opening victory with another 21-15 win over Valencia. Fran Grgić and Ivan Vrgoč led the way as the young Croatian side swept the pool and advanced to the Quarter-Finals alongside Valencia.
Raudondvaris Hoptrans (LTU) didn't give its rivals much room to breathe in Pool C, opening with a 21-18 win over Shibuya (JPN) before defeating Vienna (AUT) 21-16. Evaldas Džiaugys scored nine points in the opening game, while Aurelijus Pukelis took over against Vienna with another nine-point performance. Vienna recovered with a 21-17 victory over Shibuya, securing second place.
Last but not least, Pool B broke the hearts of the local fans, as Lausanne (SUI) were eliminated in overtime against Bordeaux (FRA) 17-15. Bordeaux trailed late before Alex Vialaret took over, scoring the final five points of the game, including the game-winning 2-pointer, to send the hosts home.
Antwerp (BEL) topped the pool after surviving a late Lausanne rally in their 21-20 opener before defeating Bordeaux 21-19. Jonas Foerts exploded for 11 points, including three 2-pointers, to help Antwerp sweep the pool.

With the top seed already out and several teams carrying strong momentum into the knockout phase, the race for the Lausanne title is wide open.
