Germany call on experience with Voigtmann, Pleiss and Benzing part of initial roster

MUNICH (Germany) - Germany return to national team action with experience as the theme of their 18-strong squad for the upcoming FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers.

MUNICH (Germany) - Germany will return to national team action following their Olympic venture in the summer with experience as the theme of their 18-strong squad for the upcoming FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers.

The trio of Johannes Voigtmann, Robin Benzing - who has over 150 caps - and Lukas Wank were all part of Germany's 12-player roster in Tokyo, while they will also be hoping to call upon the likes of Tibor Pleiss and Ismet Akpinar for their trip to face Poland - the second of their November window games.

Veteran point guard Bastian Doreth earns a recall to feature alongside medi Bayreuth teammate Andreas Seiferth with 21-year-old point guard Jonas Mattisseck at the start of his international career, looking to add to a solitary senior cap to date.

"We have a great group of players from the BBL. We invited a few more players than normal because of the pandemic. I'm looking forward to working with the players and getting started," commented head coach Gordon Herbert.
