MIAMI (United States) – The Argentine national team will have some of its contributors from the past Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games back for this second window of the Americas Qualifiers for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.

Coach Néstor “Che” García called point guard Luca Vildoza, who had been recovering from a foot injury, as well as forward Nicolás Brussino (Gran Canaria-Spain) and centers Marcos Delía (Trieste-Italy) and Tayavek Gallizzi (Institute). Shooting guard Carlos Delfino (Pesaro-Italy) also returns, who, like Gallizzi, made an appearance in the first window, where he performed really well after not having participated with the team since the 2016 Rio Olympics.

The group is completed by point guards Nicolás Aguirre (Regatas), Juan Brussino (Quimsa) and Franco Baralle (Quimsa); shooting guards Matías Solanas (San Martín) and Leonel Schattmann (Boca Juniors); forward Marcos Mata (Aguada-Uruguay); power forwards Federico Aguerre (Boca Juniors), Nicolás Romano (Institute), Agustín Barreiro (Gymnastics and Fencing) and center Kevin Hernández (Boca Juniors).

Argentina (2-0) will get Round Two started on the 25th in a very important match-up against Venezuela (2-0) in Buenos Aires, for the top of Group A. Then they will host Panama (0-2) on the 26th.

"We know that we have a difficult road ahead and I am very grateful to the CAB Board of Directors and its president for the effort they make to bring in players from abroad. We have Luca Vildoza and we love him. We did not expect him. Delía, Delfino, Brussino and Mata plus the rest are players from our National League and I feel that, knowing Panama and Venezuela, they are great matchups for this window. I am looking forward to meeting the team and training," said coach García, in a statement from the Argentine Basketball Confederation (CAB).

The Albicelestes started these Qualifiers with two wins against Paraguay. For the second time in a row, they will be based in Buenos Aires, at Obras Sanitarias stadium as Group A will remain in a “bubble” format. The top three teams in the group will advance to the second phase.
