PHILADELPHIA (FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019) - Markelle Fultz has heard a lot of doubts about himself and his game. But the explosive guard is ready to answer all questions and would love a chance to play at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019.
Fultz averaged 7.1 points, 3.8 assists and 3.1 rebounds in just 14 games during his NBA rookie campaign but he is out to prove all doubters wrong. The 20-year-old has already shown he can be an elite level player, helping United States to the title at the FIBA U18 Americas Championship 2016.
"For me, to wear USA across my chest, it was truly an honor, to go out there and have fun and play with my fellow teammates. It's truly a blessing," said Fultz, who averaged 13.8 points, 5.8 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 3.2 steals in the tournament.
Fultz's comment came in a video interview which is part of the Dare to Dream series looking ahead to the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019. Click here to watch all the videos.
The 6ft 4in (1.93m) guard has yet to leave his mark on the NBA, but he is hoping to get a chance to leave it on Team USA.
"Every day I wake up, I realize that I can't take any day for granted. For me it's just like another goal I have, to make it there. To get a chance to play for the World Cup. I think that would be a dream come true," the Upper Marlboro, Maryland native said.

"My advice would be set a goal for yourself, no matter what it is. Anything is possible,” Fultz said. "Just believe in yourself. Don't listen to people that say you can’t because there have been plenty of people that told me I couldn't make it to the NBA or I couldn’t do something. Just work hard. You've got to put in the time. You can’t just wish for something and hope it comes. You've got to actually work for it and you can do it."
And it might just lead to Fultz playing in China next summer at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019.
