MIES (FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 European Qualifiers) - Bulgaria, Estonia, Finland, Georgia and Israel became the last teams to claim spots in the Second Round of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 European Qualifiers, completing the 24-team field on the final game day of the First Round.
A magnificent Lauri Markkanen performance sent Finland through with a 91-77 victory over Iceland in Helsinki and also opened the door to the next round for Bulgaria.
Bulgaria and Finland will now join Group F opponents Czech Republic, as well as the Group E trio of Bosnia and Herzegovina, France and Russia in a newly-formed Group K.
Meanwhile, Georgia clinched third place in Group G with a 98-73 win against Austria; Israel qualified by holding off Great Britain 67-59 in the decisive Group H bout in Glasgow to the delight of Estonia, who also qualified as a result.
These three teams merged into Group L, which already contained Germany and Serbia from Group G and Group H winners Greece.
Group I: Spain (6-0); Turkey (4-2); Latvia (4-2); Montenegro (3-3); Ukraine (3-3); Slovenia (2-4).
Group J: Lithuania (6-0); Italy (4-2); Poland (3-3); Netherlands (3-3); Croatia (3-3); Hungary (3-3).
Group K: France (6-0); Czech Republic (5-1); Russia (4-2); Finland (3-3); Bulgaria (2-4); Bosnia and Herzegovina (2-4).
Group L: Germany (6-0); Greece (6-0); Serbia (4-2); Israel (3-3); Georgia (2-4); Estonia (2-4).
