Twin towers Amritpal Singh and Satnam Singh Bhamara headline India's roster for Asian Qualifiers

BENGALURU (FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Asian Qualifiers) - Amritpal Singh and Satnam Singh Bhamara headline the towering frontline of India's final 12-man roster for the Asian Qualifiers.

Amritpal and Satnam - two of the most accomplished and high profile players in all of Indian basketball - both made the final cut for coach Zoran Visic's Young Cagers squad that is aiming to beat West Asia teams Lebanon and Syria in the Qualifiers that begin on 23 November.

The 2.10m Amritpal is the first Indian player to see action at the NBL Australia, currently playing for the Sydney Kings and averaging around 3 points and 2 rebounds per game in a reserve role.

Satnam, meanwhile, last played in the NBA Summer League 2017 for the Dallas Mavericks together with CBA MVP Ding Yanyuhang. The hulking 2.18m center saw action for India in the FIBA Asia Cup 2017 also, but he is set to play a bigger role now, especially with veterans Amjyot Singh and Vishesh Bhriguvanshi unable to play.

Aside from Amritpal and Satnam, the other Asia Cup players who are back on the national team are Aravind Annadurai, Prasanna Venkatesh Sivakumar and Rikin Pethani, while other guys who can significantly contribute are Gurvinder Singh Gill, Jagdeep Singh Bains and former NBA G-League player Palpreet Singh Brar.

The Young Cagers are all set to take on Syria in the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers. India are in Group C with Syria, Lebanon and Jordan. Their first game is against Lebanon on 23 November at the Nouhad Nawfal Sports Complex, and then the Young Cagers host Syria on 26 November at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru. This will be the internationa game of the Young Cagers that Indian fans can witness at home.
