    Mexico close out first day of Qualifiers with win over Cuba

    LEON (FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Americas Qualifiers) – Mexico closed out the first day of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Americas Qualifiers with a 72-66 win over Cuba.

    LEON (FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Americas Qualifiers) – Mexico closed out the first day of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Americas Qualifiers with a 72-66 win over Cuba.

    Cuba started the game better, and with great contributions from Justiz the team took a slight lead. The Mexicans started a successful comeback with wonderful lays from Juan Toscano. Cuba kept fighting, but 19 turnovers held the team back on the fight. Mexico kept adding and celebrated the win.

    Hector Hernandez led the scoring for the Mexicans with 23 points.

    For their next game, Mexico will travel to Greensboro, North Carolina, to face the USA on November 26. Meanwhile, Cuba will host the Boricuas in La Habana on November 26.
