Tunisia never lost official games under Mario Palma, can they prevail against Angola?

RADES (FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 African Qualifiers) - Tunisia head coach Mario Palma would be happy for his players if they beat Angola on Sunday, but would feel sorry for the Angolans.

RADES (FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 African Qualifiers) - Tunisia head coach Mario Palma would be happy for his players if they beat Angola on Sunday, but would feel sorry for the Angolans.

For years, Portuguese-Angolan enjoyed a tremendous success at the helm of Angola, a country that he helped to win four FIBA AfroBasket titles and a number of clubs and youth African championships.

On Sunday, Palma's Tunisia will take on Angola in an attempt to extend their FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 African Qualifiers winning streak to nine games, while the eleven-time African champions Angola aim to win their third game in a row in the first-leg of Group E.

"They are playing great basketball and they can beat us, but it's going to be a tough game for sure," Palma admitted during a post-game press conference.

"If we beat Angola, I will be happy for my players, but not for me. They [Angola] are my second family. I lived most of my life in Angola, I am Angolan also."

    ...

There is a reason why Palma doesn't "like to play against Angola".

Eight years ago, Angola proved too much for Palma-coached Jordan at the FIBA Basketball World Cup in Turkey.

However, under Palma, Tunisia have won all their  FIBA Africa games, adding up to a 13-0 record.

Can Angola end Palma's winning record with Tunisia?

Angola play-caller Will Voigt, who faced Tunisia as the head coach of Nigeria at FIBA AfroBasket 2015 held in Tunisia, insists it's a game everyone has been waiting for.

"Playing them on their home court is going to be tough, obviously they are playing great basketball right now, but I'm looking forward to tomorrow's game, and it'll be a great game, great atmosphere, and it's two really good team going at it.

This is a rematch of the FIBA AfroBasket 2015 Semi-Finals when Angola held hosts Tunisia to a low-scoring 58-51.
