BEIRUT (Lebanon) - The FIBA Regional Office-Asia continued its efforts in helping China prepare for the highly-anticipated 19th Asian Games later this year.

In partnership with the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), a basketball statisticians workshop was held last 25-27 July in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province.

Hangzhou will serve as the host city of the continental multi-sport event, which returns from a three-year postponement due to the coronavirus pandemic.

A total of 24 participants took part in the three-day session, which involved a review of the FIBA stats manual and the software that will used during the Asian Games' basketball competitions. It also involved quizzes and tests based on simulation games.

By the end of the seminar, all the participants became certified FIBA statisticians, all set to form the final stats team roster for the Hangzhou Games set on 23 September-08 October.

It was the first FIBA statisticians workshop in China since the pandemic.

These workshops are part of the Regional Office’s continuous efforts to improve national federations, including the statisticians, who are indeed an integral part of basketball games.
