The Basketball Champions League, powered by Ameresco SUNEL will host the 2026 Final Four in Badalona, Spain from May 7 to 9, 2026.

MIES (Switzerland) – Season X of the Basketball Champions League, powered by Ameresco SUNEL will conclude with a Final Four tournament hosted in Badalona.

In partnership with the city authorities, the BCL Board decided to return to Spain once again, nine years after the first ever Final Four was held in La Laguna, Tenerife.

The decision was made official on January 9, as the Mayor of Badalona Mr. Xavier Garcia Albiol met with the BCL CEO Mr. Patrick Comninos in the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball in Mies, Switzerland.

“One of the major objectives of our government is to attract international sporting events that will showcase Badalona both nationally and internationally. Badalona is the cradle of Spanish basketball, and, for this reason, we have made a firm commitment to host, for the first time, an international final of the significance of the Basketball Champions League (BCL). This event will enable us to turn Badalona into the European capital of basketball during the weekend of May 7 to 9,” Mr. Xavier Garcia Albiol commented, continuing:

Sitting: Jorge Garbajosa, Xavier Garcia Albiol, Markus Studer; Standing: Patrick Comninos, Rosa Del Amo Hernandez, Juan Antonio Morales

“In addition, we will organize a series of sporting and social activities in the weeks leading up to the event, which will help bring basketball even closer to all neighborhoods and corners of the city. Our aim is for this Final Four to be the best of the ten editions held to date. Coinciding with that same weekend, Badalona will celebrate its Festa Major, allowing us to enjoy an exceptional few days of basketball and city life.”

Mr. Comninos said: “One of our priorities for Season X was to announce the Final Four host earlier in the season than in prior years. In Badalona, we found a willing partner and the decision to bring the event back to Spain was made easy. Nine years ago, we were rookies in terms of organizing such an event, but today, as we celebrate a decade of the Basketball Champions League, we are confident that the Season X Final Four will live up to the incredible standards of previous basketball events in Badalona. This arena breathes in history, we are proud to be a part of it.”

The Final Four of Season X will be played during the first week of May 2026 at the mythical Palau Municipal d’Esports de Badalona.

With the capacity of 12,760, the arena has seen some of the biggest names in basketball world take its floor, including the original Dream Team, as the United States with Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and all the other superstars defeated Drazen Petrovic’s Croatia in the Final of the Barcelona 1992 Olympics there.

Most recently, the arena hosted the prestigious Copa del Rey Final Eight in 2023, when Unicaja defeated La Laguna Tenerife in the Final.

All the information regarding the ticket sales will be published in the upcoming weeks.
