World Champion Opal Kristi Harrower was named the French Women’s League Grand Final series MVP yesterday after leading club side USVO Valenciennes to a 2-0 sweep over rivals Bourges.

Harrower compiled eight points, 11 rebounds and five assists in game one, which USVO won 70-61 and 14 points and six assists in a 64-55 game two win, earning Valenciennes their seventh national crown.

A fortnight ago, Harrower was named MVP after guiding USVO to a 72-51 victory in the Coupe de France final, also over Bourges.

Harrower will next year join fellow world champion Opal Penny Taylor at UMMC Ekaterinburg in the Russian Women’s league.

Harrower led the Opals to a Gold Medal at the 2006 FIBA World Championship for women in Brazil last September.

She has represented Australia at two Olympic Games (Sydney, 2000; Athens, 2004) and three World Championships (1998, 2002, 2006).

Last month she was named in the 26-woman 2007 Opals squad, which will be reduced ahead of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
