Boomers big man Chris Anstey has been hit hard with the flu and is set to miss Australia's basketball clash with Iran in Perth on Monday night.

And point-guard CJ Bruton is facing a race against time to prove his fitness after rolling his ankle at training on Friday.

Anstey last trained on Wednesday and coach Brian Goorjian said he expected the 213cm centre to spend at least another day away from the squad recovering.

"He hasn't been involved in this (national set-up) for a long time so when he misses practice it's not a good thing," Goorjian said.

"It's disappointing for him. He's a good chance to miss (the game on Monday). I hope not but he didn't look good yesterday and he's not on the floor today."

Bruton rolled his ankle less than two weeks ago and again tweaked the injury early into Friday's session.

But the 32-year-old was walking relatively freely by the end of the hit-out and Goorjian was hopeful Bruton would take the court against Iran.

"He's walking around on it so that's usually a sign he won't be out for long," Goorjian said.

"It's more than likely he will play on Monday."
