GUBA (Azerbaijan) - A stop win under their belts and the Paris Olympics on the horizon, Australia will be eyeing the win at FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series W Guba Stop 2024 on July 20 - 21.
THE FAVORITES
Australia have been spotless this season in the W series, winning their only appearance so far in Chengdu. With the Paris 2024 Olympics just days away, they’ll be looking to get tuned up in Guba.
It’ll be the Olympic core of Anneli Maley, Marena Whittle, Alex Wilson and Lauren Mansfield. The squad has played numerous events together over the past few seasons and have achieved success in the W series and for their National Team. Maley and Whittle are key offensive pieces while Wilson is the defensive juggernaut. Mansfield is the engine who keeps the side ticking.

A win in Guba would bolster their momentum heading into Paris.
Another team that already has a stop win to their name this season is the Netherlands. The top-seeded Dutch got the job done at Fribourg, showcasing their success-in-tandem approach to perfection.
Kiki Fleuren will be in action alongside the duo of Loyce Bettonvil and Julia Jorritsma. They’ll be led once again by the electric Noortje Driessen who is a lights-out scorer, putting on an MVP showing in their win at Fribourg. They’ll be coming in hungry for the win at Guba.

THE FIELD
German side Düsseldorf ZOOS have been clinical every time they take the court. Led by a dynamic scorer in Aoi Katsura, the team has been a dark horse contender every event.
Yuka Maeda and Jenny Crowder both are clinical shooters and offer a ton of upside defensively. Ama Degbeon is their key piece to victory, someone who utilizes their size and strength to dominate on both ends of the floor. Count them out at your own risk.
Czechia on the other hand, have turned heads recently. They had a strong showing in Bordeaux, upsetting France in their opener. Petra Malikova was clutch all event, and she’ll be in action once again in Guba. She’ll be joined by Karolina Sotolova, Alzbeta Levinska and Anna Rylichova. Another team that’s dangerous when they catch fire.
