MELBOURNE (WNBL) – Tully Bevilaqua may have retired from the Australia national team after this year’s FIBA World Championship for Women in the Czech Republic but she remains at the top of her game.

The veteran guard of the West Coast Waves has been named MVP of the Week in the WNBL after scoring 18 points – two coming on a game-winning, pull-up jumper - in a 66-64 triumph over Townsville.

When asked about her heroics at the end of the game, Bevilaqua said: “I was just watching the clock and tried to clear out my players so that I could get a path to the basket and just used the screen.

“I could see their post player coming out to help defend so I went to one of my least-used options in a pull-up jumpshot.

“It was the first game winning basket I’ve ever made so it was a bit of a buzz.”

Bevilaqua also hauled in 14 rebounds.
