    CANBERRA (2011 FIBA U19 World Championship for Women) - Australia's U19 national team that will take part in the FIBA U19 World Championship for Women in Chile next month is going through its final preparations ahead of the tournament.

    The Gems are currently holding training camp at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in the nation's capital of Canberra after which they will head off to Chile for the FIBA U19 World Championship that will be held in the cities of Puerto Montt and Puerto Varas between 21 and 31 July.

    The young players have all the motivation and inspiration they need at hand as Australia's senior women's team, the Opals, are also in training camp at the AIS as they prepare for their FIBA Oceania Championship series against New Zealand in September with automatic qualification for next year's Olympic Games in London at stake.

    The Gems had a memorabe tour of China in May during which they won two competitions - the Shanglou Cup and the Shouzhou Tournament.

    Australia will face hosts Chile, France and Nigeria in Group C of the Preliminary Round in Chile.
