Australia scored the first seven points of the game - before Tarasova broke the Russian drought - and had no worries after that.
Stephanie Cumming put Australia ahead by at least 10 points in early in the second quarter and the Gems thence always led in the double-digit.
Russia, on the other hand, managed to score in the double-digit only in the second quarter.
For the first time in the competition, Elizabeth Cambage was not the leading scorer for the Aussies.
The 203-cm centre scored 12 points, but compatriot Rachel Jarry led the scoring for the game with 19 points.

No Russian player managed a double-figure score, with Tarasova's nine points being the highest.
