GDYNIA (2010 FIBA World Championship) – Erin Phillips did her chances of making Australia’s squad for the FIBA World Championship for Women in the Czech Republic no harm by leading Lotos Gdynia to the Polish title over the weekend.

Phillips was named MVP of the PLKK play-off finals.

The 1.73m point guard, who turns 25 on May 19, had 17 points in Gdynia’s 60-58 Game 4 triumph.

In Game 1, which Gorzow won 78-74, Phillips had 21 points.

After scoring 10 points in an 80-72 Game 2 victory, she had 14 in a 75-68 Game 3 Gdynia win.

Phillips played for Australia at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

Another Australia international guard, Samantha Richards, played for Gorzow this season and she led all scorers with 30 points in Game 4.

She averaged 18.5 points in the finals.

Richards played for the Opals last summer when they swept New Zealand 2-0 in the FIBA Oceania Championship to earn a trip to FIBA World Championship for Women.

Carrie Graf’s Australia will take on Belarus, China and Canada in Preliminary Round Group A in the Czech Republic.
