MELBOURNE (WNBL) - Tom Maher has a habit of reminding everyone that he is among the best coaches in the world.

Only last summer, he steered Great Britain to a first place finish in their EuroBasket Women Division A Qualifying Round group, a performance that sealed a spot in this summer's Final Four.

Immediately after that feat, Maher returned Down Under and led the Bulleen Boomers to the WNBL title.

On Monday, Maher was named WNBL Coach of the Year.

Last season, he steered the team into the WNBL Grand Final where they fell to Canberra but he still was named Coach of the Year.

This season, Maher collected Coach of the Month awards in November, December and January, as Bulleen recovered from two season opening losses to roll off 17 straight victories on the way to their first ever WNBL championship, the eighth WNBL coaching title of his career.

Having led Australia, New Zealand and China at previous Olympics, he'll be at the helm of the British women at the London Games next summer.
