    CANBERRA (2010 FIBA World Championship) - Thirteen players trying to make Australia's FIBA World Championship squad will hit the hardwood at the Australian Institute of Sport from June 12-14.

    Next, the most impressive performers at what is being called the Golden Star Boomers Workout will be invited to join overseas players at a Boomers training camp from June 20-24 in Perth.

    An Australia squad will then take on Argentina in the Boomers World Challenge.

    There will be games against the South American giants on June 25, 27 and 29 in Perth, Melbourne and Adelaide, respectively.

    Matthew Dellavedova, who played for St Mary's in the NCAA Tournament in March, Damian Martin (Perth Wildcats) and Adam Gibson (Gold Coast Blaze) are in the 13-man group for the workout at the AIS.

    In all, there are nine NBL players taking part in the Golden Star Workout.

    Basketball Australia CEO Larry Sengstock said: “This is a great opportunity for these players to build on from a fantastic season in the NBL into the senior national team and use this workout to push for a spot in the Argentina Series, and the World Championship to follow.”
