    AUS - Gems team to take on world

    CANBERRA (FIBA U19 World Championship for Women) - Basketball Australia is pleased to announce the athletes selected to represent Australia at the 2007 FIBA World Championships for Under 19 women

    CANBERRA (FIBA U19 World Championship for Women) - Basketball Australia is pleased to announce the athletes selected to represent Australia at the FIBA U19 World Championship for Women.

    The Australian Under 19 Women’s basketball team, the Gems, will hold a training camp in Melbourne in mid June before embarking on one-week European tour in preparation for the World Championship.

    FIBA U19 World Championship for Women will take place at Bratislava in the Slovak Republic from July 26 to August 5.

    All but one of the athletes selected are currently on scholarship with the Australian Institute of Sport, with the exception of Abby Bishop.

    Bishop was lured by the Canberra Capitals after one outstanding year with the AIS where she was awarded the 2006 defencejobs WNBL Rookie of the Year Award.
