    AUS - Boomers defeat NZ in overtime

    NAPIER (Jeep International Basketball Series) - The Australia Post Boomers have defeated New Zealand in the first of four test matches to be played over the next week. The Aussies took the match in overtime, 81-79, after finishing regular time at 67 points apeice

    The Aussies took the match in overtime, 81-79, after finishing regular time at 67 points apeice.

    Chris Anstey was best for the Boomers with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Jason Smith had 19 points and seven rebounds and Andrew Bogut had 14 points and 10 rebounds in his first match in the green and gold since the Athens Olympics.

    The match was played in the North Island town of Napier. The second match will be played in Napier on Friday night before the teams head to Australia to play in Hobart on Monday the 17th and Melbourne on Wednesday the 19th.
