MELBOURNE (Friendly games) - Basketball Australia is pleased to announce an Australian Club Championship representative team to tour China in October.
The team will be lead by former Melbourne Tigers’ star and Australian basketball legend Andrew Gaze, with former Melbourne Tiger’s assistant coach Matt Ferris on the coaching panel.
“We tour various parts of China, including Beijing, playing exhibitions games against the Chinese national league teams (CBA) in a warm-up to their upcoming season,” Ferris said.
Eight representatives from SEABL clubs make up the majority of the side after stellar 2008 SEABL seasons; Gerard Leonard, Joe Werner, Dallas Jeffree, Andrew Harms, Mark Banovic, Lester Strong, Andrew Rice and Daniel George.
Ash Cannan and Sedale Threatt from the Big V join the eight SEABL players on the ACC Select tour roster, which leaves for China on October 4.
George represented the side in 2007 and is grateful for the chance to once again tour China. The tour has been extended to six matches in 2008 with George hoping the team can improve on their 3-2 record last year.
