Coach Hur Jae knew that the Philippines were among the tournament's deadliest perimeter shooting teams, but he was confident in his own side, who were entering the contest with a ton of momentum after stringing wins over Kazakhstan, New Zealand and Japan in succession.
True enough, the Koreans found themselves constantly open as the Filipinos were a step slow in their defensive rotations. Coach Hur's shooters made Gilas Pilipinas pay, hitting 16 of their 21 three-point tries for a jaw-dropping 76% success rate.

It was never a good idea to engage Korea in a shootout, and once again the Filipinos found that out the hard way. Coach Chot Reyes constantly reminded his wards to tighten up on defense, but they just couldn't keep in step with the Koreans.
Choi JunYong, Lee JungHyun and Heo Ung each hit 3 triples to lead Korea's barrage from beyond the arc. Kim SunHyung and Lee SeungHyun each dropped 2 three-pointers of their own, while Park ChanHee, Jen JunBeom and Yang HongSeok drilled one triple each.
