    Six U16 players still in running for Indonesia

    JAKARTA (2016 FIBA Asia U18 Championship) - Six players from the 2015 FIBA Asia U16 Championship are still in the running to play for Indonesia at the 2016 FIBA Asia U18 Championship in Tehran.

    JAKARTA (2016 FIBA Asia U18 Championship) - Six players from the 2015 FIBA Asia U16 Championship are still in the running to play for Indonesia at the 2016 FIBA Asia U18 Championship in Tehran, Iran from 22-31 July.

    The South East Asians named their 17-player provisional rosters which include U16 star player Muhamad Arighi Hadran, as well as five others who managed to finish tenth in the 2015 FIBA Asia U16 Championship in their capital city of Jakarta.

    Indonesia managed to qualify for the 2016 FIBA Asia U18 Championship after finishing third behind the Philippines and Thailand in the 2016 SEABA U18 Championship which was staged in the Indonesian city of Medan.

    The 24th edition in Tehran will be Indonesia’s 10th participation since the inaugural championship in Seoul, Korea in 1970.

    Their best achievement so far at the U18 level is finishing 6th on two occasions (1978, 1992).

    The 24th FIBA Asia U18 Championship is the qualifying event for the 2017 FIBA U19 World Championship, the venue for which will be decided soon. The top three teams from the 24th FIBA Asia U18 Championship will represent Asia at the 2017 FIBA U19 World Championship.
